Lake Central Airlines Acrylic Snowflake Ornament
This ornament recalls Lake Central Airlines of Indianapolis, Indiana. Beginning service in 1950, as Turner Airlines, Lake Central built a network of short-haul routes connecting smaller markets in the U.S. Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states to Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C. and large cities in Ohio and Michigan.
With a fleet of DC-3s and Convair 340s, Lake Central caused a stir in 1965 with its order for the French Nord 262 turboprop. Early service difficulties with the type advanced the airline's move to Convair 580 conversions, though an order for Boeing 737s was cancelled when Lake Central was acquired by Allegheny Airlines in 1968.
An artistic interpretation of the airline's brand is laser-engraved with exacting detail onto a cut acrylic snowflake crystal ornament, measuring approximately 3.4 inches (8.6 cm) between opposite points, with a material thickness of 1/8 inch. For best display clarity, the design is engraved as a reversed mirror image on one side of the ornament, so that it can be viewed with proper alignment on the opposite side.
As a gift, or as a treat for yourself, these are a perfect way to add your favorite airlines of the past to your today! Use them to decorate for the holidays, or to brighten up your desk, office, or special area of your home or work space all year long.
