USAir Acrylic Snowflake Ornament
This ornament recalls USAir of Washington, D.C. With a history extending back to 1939 as an airmail carrier, the airline was known as Allegheny Airlines, and developed a dense route network in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic states, anchored by large operations at Pittsburgh, Washington, New York, and Boston. The 1968 acquisition of Lake Central Airlines in 1968 extended the network to the U.S. Midwest, while the 1972 purchase of Mohawk Airlines cemented Allegheny as the dominant regional carrier in the northeast quadrant.
To better reflect its growth and aspirations outside of the northeast, Allegheny re-branded as USAir in 1979, later becoming US Airways, now part of American Airlines.
An artistic interpretation of the airline's brand is laser-engraved with exacting detail onto a cut acrylic snowflake crystal ornament, measuring approximately 3.4 inches (8.6 cm) between opposite points, with a material thickness of 1/8 inch. For best display clarity, the design is engraved as a reversed mirror image on one side of the ornament, so that it can be viewed with proper alignment on the opposite side.
As a gift, or as a treat for yourself, these are a perfect way to add your favorite airlines of the past to your today! Use them to decorate for the holidays, or to brighten up your desk, office, or special area of your home or work space all year long.
